Austin-Healey 100M prices are “evolving” Author: Neville, R Covers: What does the “M” stand for in 100M? Most would say, “Le Mans,” but for some who were trading in the model in the auction market it meant “Money.” Not so much anymore, because prices have been dropping. The question is why? Marque

Vice President, Club Support Steve Bell Author: Bell, S. Covers: started down the path as a graduating senior from Abington High School when I bought my first Bugeye Sprite for $100. That was quite an adventure as owning a 1959 Bugeye in 1968 was certainly a challenge. Overdrive in Second Gear Author: Young, B. Covers: Have you ever considered being able to engage overdrive in 2nd gear on the Austin-Healey four-speed transmission? The switch on the fascia enables the overdrive electrical operation only in 3rd and 4th gear. However, it is possible to jump across this switch and operate the overdrive solenoid in the lower gears, however, there is a great risk of damaging the overdrive unit if the overdrive is engaged in reverse. Austin-Healey Build: Tackling “Other Details” Author: Thomton, S. Covers: final attachment points on newly fabricated brake lines, water lines including brackets for said lines (which were fabricated since the custom EFI required repositioning from the original mounting points), and how about a remote clutch bleed-line to ease that cumbersome task? These seemingly trivial items can take hours or days. Then there were more fundamental items like custom gaskets for the EFI intake (HM January 2022), headers (modified Kirk’s with ceramic coating inside and out), custom fabricated exhaust system (also ceramic coated), etc., all of which needed tending too. These were all completed months ago and have been languishing on the kinda-done- but-not-installed heap. Marque

In a field with automotive legends like Jaguar’s C and Dtypes, Ferrari’s 500 Mondial and 750 Monza, Maserati’s 300S, OSCA’s MT4 and Porsche’s 550, Austin-Healeys were thick on the ground, accounting for almost 20 percent of the spots on the grid.
